The Planetarium Center in Moscow announced that the Earth's population will witness a special astronomical event in mid-September.
A statement issued by the center said: "C/2023 P1 (Nishimura) comet, which was discovered by Japanese astronomer Hideo Nishimura in August, may become visible to Earth's population by mid-September 2023."
And the statement added: “Due to the inability to predict comets, it is impossible to predict the degree of Nishimura’s vision with the naked eye in September, but there is a possibility that this will happen … as the comet approaches the sun, it evaporates, and the tail of gas and dust begins to form in mid-September, and at the time In which the temperature of the comet will rise, its brightness will be between 2-3 degrees, and if the weather is suitable and the sky is clear, people will be able to see the comet in the sky with the naked eye.
This comet was discovered on August 12 by the Japanese researcher and astronomer, Hideo Nishimura, and the Minor Planet Center officially confirmed this discovery and named it C / 2023 P1.
On September 13, the comet is supposed to be at a distance of no less than 34 million km from Earth, and on September 18, Nishimura will be at the "perihelion" point.
