A person's feeling of numbness in the hands and feet can indicate the presence of various diseases. So you should not ignore it and consult a doctor.
And Dr. Zamira Bekmurzaeva, a neurologist, indicates that this feeling may be, above all, related to the presence of problems in the spine.
She says: "If the hands go numb, then the person should look for the core of the problem in the cervical spine and the upper part of the chest. If the feet go numb, there may be a problem in the lower thoracic and lumbar spine. These cases often indicate the presence of an intervertebral hernia."
According to her, the cause of limb numbness could be foci or enlargement of the spinal cord.
She says: “Another common cause of numbness of the upper extremities, namely the hands, is carpal tunnel syndrome, when nerve compression occurs at the level of the wrist joints. There are only three of them - radial, ulnar and median. Each of them is responsible for the nerves of certain fingers. And based on which fingers bother more, the affected nerve can be identified."
In addition, nerve fibers often suffer from diabetes mellitus and excessive alcohol intake, as a person in this case feels burning and numbness of the hands and feet.
She says, "A person may feel numbness in the hands and feet, due to taking some types of medications such as antibiotics and anticoagulants, and during the chemotherapy period."
