Researchers have identified another possible risk factor, which is exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), known as forever chemicals, during pregnancy. These toxic chemicals are used in waterproof clothing, personal care products, and anti-aging foam. Fires, food packaging, medical products, fast food packaging, non-stick cookware, and many other household products, since these chemicals do not degrade easily and can remain in the environment for thousands of years, are referred to as forever chemicals.

Tips to reduce your exposure to chemicals forever
You can't completely avoid exposure to forever chemicals, but you can reduce your exposure to chemicals to certain levels by: • Reducing the use of products that contain PFAS. • Use water that has been tested for PFAS. • Avoid consuming fish from waterways contaminated with PFAS. • Eat home cooked food and avoid fast food (which can be packaged in PFAS-coated packages) as much as possible.
