Researchers have identified another possible risk factor, which is exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), known as forever chemicals, during pregnancy. These toxic chemicals are used in waterproof clothing, personal care products, and anti-aging foam. Fires, food packaging, medical products, fast food packaging, non-stick cookware, and many other household products, since these chemicals do not degrade easily and can remain in the environment for thousands of years, are referred to as forever chemicals.
