In 1826, a British pharmacist named John Walker discovered sulfur in his laboratory by chance.
When John Walker was doing some of his own experiments, he mixed a certain amount of potassium chloride with another amount of antimony sulfide in a bowl...and mixed them with a stick of wood... He pulled out the stick and tried to wipe the tip to which the chemicals had stuck and dried up, by Rub it on the table. While Walker tried to remove these materials, sparks and a little smoke flew. Hence the idea of matches was born.
