How to treat children who steal
12:4:28 2024-12-04 333

Stealing is the secret acquisition of money or something that belongs to others. Stealing in children is a phenomenon that requires treatment. It is unacceptable for a child to steal and for this act to turn into a reprehensible habit that is deeply rooted in his personality. Treating such a trait requires taking into account the following aspects:

First: Studying the causes and reasons: This is the first step in reform, as it is necessary to investigate the motives and reasons that lead a person to commit theft. This requires guardians and educators to take a look at the past period of the child's life, and note what he was exposed to during it in terms of deprivation, anxiety, turmoil, relationships and emotional situations, and what are the circumstances he went through, the role models that influenced him in his life, and what are the remnants that such role models left in his mind.

Second: Filling material deficiencies: The minimum material needs of the child must be provided, whether they are the reason for the emergence of the habit of stealing or not; this is because the motive for stealing may be something else. If it is treated, the factor of deprivation remains a reason for provoking this act again.

Third: Satisfying him with affection and tenderness: There is a clear emphasis on the necessity of keeping the child company and his parents showering him with affection and tenderness. It is also necessary to set a limit that he does not cross so that he does not dare to approach them, and to respect their opinion, and learn not to do anything that diminishes his status with you.

Fourth: Providing a positive atmosphere: Providing a positive and healthy atmosphere is considered an educational right for every child. It is not right for a child to be raised in an atmosphere full of crime, disregard for the law, and attacks on the rights of others, nor is it appropriate for him to be raised in a family that practices crime. Educators and guardians must themselves be good role models for the child to follow towards reform and goodness.

Fifth: Awareness: It often aims to inform the child of his mistake in simple language and understandable logic, by warning that such an act is not acceptable to his family members or other people, and that God is angry with him and has set a severe punishment for him. In this context, we can explain to him how people’s lives become difficult if the phenomenon of theft spreads and everyone starts stealing the money of others.
