Social, emotional and behavioral difficulties (SEBD)

Behavior is never found in a vacuum. It is always functional for that individual. Some behavior can be ambiguous, so STOP and think of a plausible hypothesis for the behavior and then decide what intervention is required. The better the questions you ask, the better the solutions/interventions will be. (Long, 2003)

 

We will provide an introduction to the theoretical understanding and the knowledge that underpins all aspects of behavior. It is intended that the reader will be able to develop approaches that pay regard to their theoretical understanding and will also aid motivation, academic improvement and concentration for the learners. It will discuss the purposes of behavior and the circumstances that affect behavior. In these ways it is hoped that the reader will begin to learn how to question the implementation and evaluation of interventions and targets in a manner that will benefit the needs of all learners, including those with ADHD and ADD.
