Module evaluation
Formal and informal evaluation of the module takes place each time the module runs. Formal evaluation is undertaken by means of a questionnaire which includes written statements by students. In addition, informal discussion regarding the modular learning, teaching and assessment methods takes place on an ongoing basis between students and their seminar facilitator. In both types of evaluation questions relate to student views on the learning, teaching and assessment processes. A central question asks students to consider the effect this form of assessment has on their learning, both in terms of what they learn and how they learn. Students tend to evaluate this module positively and comments have included that ‘it is an interesting way of learning’, that it has ‘increased awareness of the relevance of ethics to practice’, and that it has ‘led to development of interpersonal skills’. Some students have commented that initially they didn't like the idea of the groupwork or the seminar presentation but ultimately they found both experiences beneficial. Feedback from student evaluations is taken into account in the ongoing development of the module.
